VH1 recognizes lyrical pioneers
(June 27) For the fifth year in a row, VH1 recognizes those artists who rocked the
very foundation of urban music by contributing and reinventing music as we know it
at the Hip Hop Honors 2008.
Thousands will gather to pay homage to their true soldiers of Hip Hop at the
Hammerstein Ballroom in New York on Thursday October 2 and will air the
following Tuesday October 7 on the VH1 network.
Past honorees have included, Salt N Pepa, WHODINI, Afrika Bambaataa, LL
Cool J, A Tribe Called Quest, Snoop Dogg, MC Lyte, Ice Cube, Russell Simmons
and Teddy Riley.
The 5th Annual Hip Hop Honors host and honorees have yet to be announced.
